After enjoying a hugely successful amateur career, Jason Palmer joined the professional ranks in 2010 and is currently spending his time playing on the European Tour having graduated from the Challenge Tour in 2014.
Jason’s amateur highlights included winning the prestigious Italian Amateur Open in 2006, the Midlands Open in 2008 and, perhaps most impressively of all, the South of England Open Amateur Championship at Walton Heath in 2009, which included a sparkling 63 in the opening round. Going into the final nine holes of the championship, Jason was tied for the lead with Sunningdale’s two time Walker Cup player Stiggy Hodgson, and showed his class with an impressive closing round 71 to win by one shot.
Turning professional in 2010, Jason won the Alps Tour Uniqa Financelife Open in August after superb rounds of 65 and 68 left him on -11 under par.
In March 2012, Jason Palmer won the Kenya Airways-sponsored Pro-Am of the Barclays Kenya Open at Muthaiga Golf Club, Nairobi, beating a quality field including Nick Dougherty, Maximilian Kieffer, Chris Lloyd and others.
After a very successful season in 2013 where Jason lifted three titles on the Alps Tour he graduated to the European Challenge Tour, the second tier of professional golf in Europe. Experiencing a mediocre season in 2014 but keeping his card Jason finished the season with a flourish. Leading the Foshan Open in China from the first round to the last Jason claimed his maiden Challenge Tour victory, combined with a second place finish at the Bank of Oman Golf Classic the following week Jason was assured of playing at the top level on the main European Tour in 2015.
He grasped the opportunity and despite a terrible hand injury late on in 2015, Jason still played well finishing in a tie for 47th at the European Tours Flagship event - the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth before qualifying for and playing his first major, the 2015 US Open.
