Champions of Golf professional Paul Broadhurst leads after round one on the Mediterranean Tour played over three of the districts leading golf resort courses.
As Paul competes in Egypt at this event played over The Allegria (Greg Norman design), Palm Hills (Jack Nicklaus design) and Katameya Dunes (Nick Faldo design) he aims to continue the good run of form that saw him lift the US Pro-Am Scottsdale event title only a couple of weeks previously. As imperative warm weather practice ahead of his return to more competitive golf on the European Senior Tour in August when he turns 50 and is eligible to play in events from the 14th of the month onwards, at the moment his first event will be the Travis Perkins Masters at Woburn.
Paul, after starting the day with a bogey on his first hole, the par 5 6th, he followed up with a birdie at the 8th to get back to level finishing the front nine on this score. With two birdies and a final bogey on his back nine holes, Paul finished the day one under par and two shots clear of his nearest competitor, fell Englishman Luke Towler.
