Champions of Golf on Tour

This week as the European Challenge Tour gets back into full swing Champions of Golf are represented on several fronts across the globe from Turkey to Mauritius and even in a very damp and miserable Scotland at the home of the 2014 Ryder Cup, Gleneagles.

European Tour debutante Jason Palmer this week takes part in the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open played at the Heritage GC in Mauritius. This is the inaugural hosting of this championships and the event will be co-sanctioned between the Asia, Sunshine and European Tours. This sees European professionals head to this world renowned holiday destination for the first time with a €1,000.000 prize fund on offer to all the competitors.

At just over 7,000 yards the course isnt a long one however the difficult bunkering and copious amounts of water will no doubt make the test a tough one this week, despite this Jason, one of the straightest hitters on tour will be hoping to take advantage of his game play assets to make his Mauritian mark!

For the second successive year, the European Challenge Tour heads to Turkey for the Turkish Airlines Challenge, albeit at a different venue, this time the Gloria GC in Belek, Antalya. The 2014 event was won by Oliver Farr who progressed to the European Tour following a good run of results, and Champions of Golf professional Scott Henry will be hoping to use this week as a stepping stone as Farr did, to get his playing privileges back in the main tier of European golf.

Also in action are Neil Fenwick and Gareth Wright who are both competing at The Gleneagles Scottish PGA Championships OOM event where Gareth is actually the defending champion. The event has been reduced to 54 holes following a complete wash out on Sunday 3rd May for the first round, with the final three rounds due to be completed by Wednesday 6th May as scheduled.

They might not be in competitive action but Gary Wolstenholme MBE and Tony Jacklin CBE will also be playing this week as they are both attendfing the Magnolia Park Tony Jacklin Golf Classic which takes place at the Buckinghamshire golf resort on Friday 8th May. With some of the games familiar faces and celebrity names in attendance the day promises to be a great celebration as the resorts ambassador two time major winner Tony Jacklin welcomes, friends and guests to enjoy the day.

For more information about any of the golf events mentioned above and for the scores throughout the week please check back for regular updates and as always, the best of luck to all the Champions of Golf players.
