The Duke's Welcome The European Senior Tour

Since 2001 the magnificent Woburn Golf Club has held a European Senior Tour event which makes it one of the tours longest standing partners, and since 2008 Travis Perkins plc have been the events headline sponsor, with the latest 2017 edition of this wonderful tournament no different.

Now named the Travis Perkins Masters, it’s always a well-attended event with large spectator numbers and some of the European Senior Tour’s best players turning out to try and win that coveted title and a share of the newly increased for 2017 £360,000 prize fund.

In the last seven years Colin Montgomerie has won the event on three occasions (2013, 2014 and 2015) with Des Smyth being the other multiple winner (2010 and 2012). Andre Bossert, who recently played at the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship at Nailcote Hall in Warwickshire, returns to Woburn as the defending champion after enjoying a stellar 2016 season, eventually finishing 3rd on the European Senior Tour Order of Merit.

Gary has been a part of the Travis Perkins event since 2010, after joining the European Senior Tour and in his first outing enjoyed his best finish at the event, a tie for 3rd place. He has notched up a further two top 10 finishes and never been outside the top 35 players in his six appearances at Woburn. Despite not playing in 2016, Gary was 1st reserve, he is keen to return to a venue that has proved so fruitful for him in recent years as he looks to build on the 39th place on the Order of Merit he currently finds himself in with five tournaments to go (including this week) before the season ending MCB Tour Championship in Mauritius.

Good luck Gary!
