European Senior Tour Returns to Action

After an absence of other a month from the main European Senior Tour, the last full event being the WINSTONgolf Senior Open, the Tour returns to action this week for the Prostate Cancer UK Scottish Senior Open held at the stunning Archerfield Links Estate in North Berwick, Scotland.

With the return to action this week, Champions of Golf is represented by three European Senior Tour players, Gary Wolstenholme MBE, David Gilford and Paul Broadhurst. Paul returns to Scotland as defending champion this week and will be out to repeat his success of 2015 as he won on his European Senior Tour debut, on his way to winning the Rookie of the Year title.

However not only did Paul win on debut in 2015 but Paul added to his Senior trophy hall only a month ago. His second visit to Scotland as a senior and this time a major championship, The Senior Open Championship presented by Rolex. Heading into the final round 4 shots adrift of fellow European compatriot Miguel Angel Jimenez, Paul made up the ground and eventually overcame all the Spaniard could throw at him to take the claret jug.

Currently 11th on the European Senior Tour Order of Merit, Gary Wolstenholme MBE is also competing at Archerfield, getting underway tomorrow (Friday 19th August). The three time European Senior Tour winner hasn't lifted silverware, coming close and losing a playoff earlier this season, since 2012 but will be out to put that statistic right and take a major step closer towards confirming his 2017 playing privileges on tour.

David has played a full season on the European Senior Tour since turning 50 in 2015 and of late has returned a very consistent run of results with the highlight of the year coming in June at the SSE Enterprise Wales Senior Open where a closing 64 left him in a tie for 3rd overall. Yet to win on the European Senior Tour despite winning on 6 occasions on the main tour, that maiden victory cant be too far around the corner for David.

The first round begins tomorrow (Friday 19th August) and the tee times are as follows:
08.50 Gary Wolstenholme (10th tee)
09.40 Paul Broadhurst (10th tee)
09.40 David Gilford (1st tee)
