Gareth Wright will tee it up at Gullane next week in the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open as one of the successful five qualifiers from the PGA's official qualifying event at North Berwick over the weekend, thank in no small part to a Hole-In-One on the fourth hole of the second and final round.
A first round 64 gave Gareth a strong position after day one and he soon made the situation even more safe as he birdied the third and eagles the fourth with a perfectly struck 8 iron. A second round of 66, five under par, was enough for a share of the lead after 36 holes to force a playoff with eventual winner Craig Sutherland who at the first play off hole sank a 20 foot putt for the title. However, the main goal had been achieved for the week and Gareth makes his way to Gullane for the £3.25million European Tour event riding a wave, second this week, 2nd on the PGA Scotland Order of Merit and remembering the three other top three finishes he has had this season.
The Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open is live on Sky Sports throughout the week but you can keep up to date with all the scores from Gullane via the European Tour website at http://www.europeantour.com/europeantour/season=2015/tournamentid=201505...
Everyone at Champions of Golf wants to congratulate Gareth on this achievement and wish him well for this week.
