Gary gets invited to US PGA Senior Championships

After an off-season from January to May preparing from the start of the European Senior Tour season, Gary was expecting to hit his first competitive tee shot at the Wales Senior Open on the 29th May however following an email last week that has all changed!

Invites for European Tour golfers to play in America are notoriously difficult to obtain never mind trying to play in one of only three Senior majors. Despite this and with only a matter of days before the commencement of the 76th Senior PGA Championships at French lick Springs Resort in Indiana, Gary was lucky enough to receive the golden ticket invitation to compete at this prestigious tournament for the fifth year in a row having qualified in the previous four. As the European Senior Tour has less than ten events on the schedule this year, the opportunity to play an event which can contribute to the Senior Order Of Merit was something Gary couldn’t overlook. Therefore flights, a caddy, accommodation, transfers and all the other accompaniments for the trip were organised for Gary to fly out to Louisville yesterday (Sunday 17th May 2015).

Round one begins like any other tournament on Thursday, the 21st May, with Gary accompanied by Canadian Rick Gibson who he knows well from the European Senior Tour and Tracy Phillips from America making up the three ball. They tee off at 1.05pm local time (6.05pm UK time). On Friday for round two Gary, Tracy and Rick tee off at 7.55am (12.55pm UK time).
