Gary got his season off to a winning start only a few days after returning to the UK. Playing in the TP Tour Berkshire Red Pro-Am on Thursday 17th, Gary sought to once again get a professional card in his hand and game head on after two weeks of solid practice in America with his friends.
Playing with amateurs K Lyle, S Parrish and E Martin playing off handicaps of 10, 2 and 19 respectively Gary and his team started from the 17th tee at 10.00am and got off to a flying start with a nett and a gross birdie resulting in an opening hole total of 7 points. The good form from the team continued and a three under gross total on the front 9 nine holes from Gary went along way to securing a grand total of 96 points for a twenty four under pare leaderboard total. This magnificent total was good enough to land the team victory by two shots from the 2nd place team captained by professional Sam Little a further six shots clear of 3rd place, Tom Shadbolt's team.
Gary can be seen on the above picture alongside his fellow team members each holding their prize courtesy of the TP Tour.
Special mention should go to K Lyle who as part of 'Team Wolstenholme' returned a personal seven under par, 43 point haul, which went a long way to securing victory, a fantastic achievement and one that will no doubt see his 10 handicap cut even further when he returns home!
Gary begins his European Senior Tour season at the US PGA Championships which are now less than a month away.
Well done to every at The Berkshire and the TP Tour and especially congratulations to the winning team; Team Wolstenholme!
