As Irish eyes were set on a home winner in Shane Lowry, Champions of Golf professionals Marc Warren and Graeme Storm battled strongly over a sunny weekend in County Kildare.
The event saw an extraordinary finish, Paul Casey who has been in the wilderness it seems for a player of his calibre and quality, he made eagle at the final hole to set an almost impossible target in the clubhouse for overnight leader Joost Luiten in the following group.
Marc's third round propelled him up the leaderboard as he fired one of the best rounds of the day, a five under par 67. He followed this with a final round of level par which secured for him a tie for 18th place, a result that lifted him to 21st on the Race to Dubai order of merit. Graeme faired similarly well finishing his challenge for the Irish Open with a closing round round of 70, two under par, for a two under par total. This bolstered Graeme's hopes of finishing within the illusive 110 places on the European Tour order of merit, he currently occupies 107th places as the tour heads into the second half of the season.
