Following the heroics of Kiradech Aphibarnrat in winning the Shenzhen International last week, Champions of Golf professional Jason Palmer, obtained one of the last few spots for this weeks European Tour event, the Volvo China Open at Thomson Shanghai Pudong Golf Club.
Jason's last week in China playing in Shenzhen didn't quite go according to plan as his first round progress was halted by a rather bizarre tree incident where the ball actually stuck in the tree eventually leading to a triple bogey six and with that the mountain Jason had to climb to make the halfway cut was just too high.
However, having gotten into this weeks event on Sunday afternoon following the conclusion of the Shenzhen International, Jason will be keen to make the most of the opportunity and perform well at one of the Tour's biggest events. With a prize fund in excess of €2,000,000 and previous winners including Ryder Cup players Paul Casey and Nicolas Colsaerts, the benefits of a strong week are obvious but it wont be easy on the 7,300 yard tree lined golf course.
Jason begins his first round at 07.00 (00.00 UK time) on Thursday 23rd April alongside Banjamin Lein and amateur Blake Proverbs. The same three ball will then play their second round on the following day at 12.00 (05.00 UK time).
You can follow all of the scoring through the European Tour website at www.europeantour.com and catch the live action from China throughout the week exclusively on Sky Sports.
