Local Final Qualifying is the last chance saloon for any eligible professionals to gain entry into arguably the biggest golf championship in the world, The British Open.
As defending champion and 2013 BMW international open victor, Ernie Els, makes his way to Muirfield ready to begin the defence of his title, hundreds of players will be competing today to earn the chance to join him.
Tuesday 2nd July see's four courses, Gullane No:1, North Berwick, \the Musselburgh and Dunbar all host the competitiors battling it out for the illustive 12 spots for The Open. Each venue has three spots available for the lowest scorers once they have completed their 36 holes and playoff holes if necessary.
Champions of Golf are delighted to already have Scott Jamieson competing in the Championship after impressively demolishing the field at the last qualifying event, International Final Qualifying at Sunningdale as well as the 1969 British Open champion Tony Jacklin CBE working extensively with one of his sponsors and event partners Glenmorangie throughout the week.
However in a bid to double Champions presence Peter Baker and Matthew Southgate will be competing to snatch one of the last spots away from their fellow professionals. Matthew is competing at The Musselburgh and Peter makes up the field in North Berwick.
