Marc Warren found great form in Spain after a few weeks away from the European Tour, relaxing with wife Laura and their new baby boy Archie James. He returned a four under par total for the week and lifted himself from 105th in the Race to Dubai Order of Merit to 74th.
A disappointing closing round of 76 saw Marc fall out of title contention. Leading after round three, Marc was full of confidence heading into the final round alongside fellow countryman Craig Lee, however having woken up barely able to walk after hurting his back, Marc underwent two hours of intensive physio to even be able to tee it up at the first hole on day four.
After a reserved start Marc settled into his game but unfortunately was not able to clinch his third European Tour title as Raphael Jacquelin lifted the trophy following a tour record nine hole playoff with Felipe Aguilar (eliminated after the 3rd hole) and Maximillian Kieffer.
The result again highlights Marc’s golfing ability and tenacious character, both great positives to take forward for the rest of the year. Marc has also elevated himself up the world rankings and now occupies 189th position, a climb of over 30 places.
Well done Marc from everyone at Champions of Golf and the best of luck for Korea and China!
