Jason confirmed his top ranking on the 2013 Alps Tour Order of Merit by winning his second title of the season, The Cervino Open after firing a final round 65 to win by 2 shots. Fellow Englishman Michael Bush held the lead after a magnificent final round of 59, nine under par. However Jason showed his class, having lead for most of the week, to close our his final holes and secure the trophy.
After a few weeks lay off, the Alps Tour got into full swing again this week as its members descended on Cervino Golf Club in Italy for The Cervino Open. Having worked hard in his time off Jason headed to the event in confident mood looking to maintain and extend his lead at the top of the Order of Merit.
An opening round of four under par put him in a tie for 5th position only one shot adrift of the joint leaders, however a second round of 63 earnt him a two shot lead on nine under par which he took into the final round. A final round that saw Jason make four birdies and one bogey was enough to earn him the title and cheque to take home to Kirby Muxloe, Leicestershire.
With only five further events scheduled for the 2013 season, Jason is in prime position atop the Order of Merit leading by over nine thousand points, a lead that will be incredibly difficult for any of his fellow professionals to overhaul.
Jason’s next event is at the Golf Club Asiago in Italy this week where he will hope to take Italian inspiration from his performance last week.
