RasGas Company Limited has announced that as part of its ongoing committment to their corporate social responsibilty (CSR) programme, they will host a series of events over this week and weekend to raise money for charity.
The RasGas charity weekend, being held for the ninth cosecutive year, will commence with a gala dinner at The Ritz-Carlton hotel in Doha today where more than 350 of the companies employees, customers, suppliers and vendors will come together to raise money for deserving charitable causes across Qatar.
Major golf champion and Ryder Cup legend Tony Jacklin will be the guest of honour at the dinner and will take to the fairways the following day with 21 other professionals in the annual RasGas Pro-Am tournament at Doha Golf Club. The weekend will then conclude with the RasGas Classic Golf Tournament on the 1st March.
Proceeds from this years event will go to the "Sponsor a Student" programme and Social Development Centre through the company's charitable fund, last year the weekend raised in excess of $380,000 for its chosen charities.
Tony commented, "It is a great pleasure to be welcomed to Qatar, as a patron of many charities myself such as Rainbows Childrens Hospice across the East Midland in the UK, I am always keen to help raise vital funds for them all to continue their great work. Its a great priviledge to be invited as guest of honour to the gala dinner and I hope that with my help we can raise even more money than this great event has in previous years".
