Scott Jamieson in his first outing at the Volvo World Matchplay has secured his entry into the second phase, the last 16 knockouts!
The world number 90 landed at Thracian Cliffs, Bulgaria after three flights from Scotland full of confidence ahead of this weeks limited field event. After finishing so strongly (2nd) at another of Volvo's flagship events, the Volvo Champions, which gained him exemption for this week, Scott is keen to repeat his success.
Opening up with a first round match against Carl Petterson, Scott got off to a dream start by getting his first points on the board securing a 1UP victory. He commented "I’m obviously delighted to get the first win under the belt but it wasn’t the finish to the match I wanted after being in a fairly strong position" (having lead 3UP with 5 holes to play).
However Scott used his victory as a catalyst for further impressive play as he also dispatched the third member of the McCormack goup, beating young Dane Thorbjorn Olesen 5&3.
These victories see Scott head the group and progress to the last 16 knock out phase where he will play the runner up from the Norman group, Felipe Aguilar in tomorrow (Saturday) morning match.
From there, the successful competitior will play a quarter final match on Saturday afternoon before the semi final and final which will be playing on the traditional final day, Sunday.
