Leicestershire based golf management company, Champions of Golf, are delighted to start 2014 with the announcement that rising Scottish European Tour star Scott Henry has joined their professional golfing stable.
The Champions of Golf stable also boasts fellow Scottish golfers and European Tour winners Marc Warren and Scott Jamieson as well as 2013 Alps Tour Order of Merit winner Jason Palmer, multiple European Senior Tour winner Gary Wolstenholme MBE and two time major winner, Ryder Cup legend Tony Jacklin CBE.
After a fine amateur career that saw Scott lift the Scottish Boys Championship in 2004 and 2005, the Scottish Boys Stroke Play Championship in 2004 and the Scottish Amateur Open Stroke Play Championship in 2006, Scott moved into the professional ranks in 2008.
The best moment of his golfing career to date was lifting his first professional title in 2012, the lucrative Kazakhstan Open, defeating HP Backer in a play-off after holing a 25 foot birdie putt at the 72nd hole to force the sudden death playoff. This helped Scott secure 11th place in the Challenge Tour rankings and earned him a rookie season on the European Tour in 2013.
Scott recorded nine top 50 finishes in his first year on tour, the highlight of which came on home soil at the Johnnie Walker Championship held at Gleneagles, host of the 2014 Ryder Cup where a fourth place finish and €75,000 cheque was enough for Scott to finish inside the top 130 in the final Order of Merit and retain a card for his playing privileges in 2014.
Champions of Golf Managing Director Matthew Hayes commented, “We are delighted to be working with Scott going forward, all the team here believe he is a great talent. It is always exciting to work with someone at the start of their career and at only 26 years of age, Scott definitely has a promising golfing life ahead of him”.
After the festive break the European Tour schedule gets into full swing commencing with the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship on the 16th January 2014.
