Sean Jacklin Earns Playing Rights on 2015 Sunshine Tour

Sean Jacklin, son of the 1969 Open champion, 1970 US Open champion and Champions of Golf professional Tony Jacklin CBE, also gained his card, finishing a good week with a 69 to share eighth with three other players.

Held at Bloemfontein Golf Club in South Africa, Sean begin the week with a superb three under par 69 establishing himself as a contender for the lucrative 33 qualifying spots. However a second round 76 knocked Sean a little out of contention and gave him a significant amount of work to do to regain his fight for the top spots. In true gutsy style though and having learnt from his father Sean battled back and after firing rounds of 70 and 67 Sean closed the gap to the leaders and put himself in a great position to claim an all important Sunshine Tour card.

Sean began the final round nervously as he bogeyed the 2nd hole but birdies at the 5th, 6th and 7th, before a bogey to complete the front nine gave him a opening one under par heading for the back nine. Two early birdies and a birdie to finish at the 18th gave Sean a final round of 69 to complete a successful week as he finished in a tie for 8th position securing his Sunshine Tour card for South Africa in 2015.

The rookies will get their first shot at a Sunshine Tour event in February’s Dimension Data Pro-Am at Fancourt.
