For the second time this season a top 5 finish on the European Senior Tour has earned Gary a place in the following event. Not already exempt into the Willow Senior Golf Classic at Hanbury Manor starting today (Friday 26th August), rounds of 69, 68 and 71 at Archerfield in the Prostate Cancer UK Scottish Senior Open last week saw Gary steal a share of 5th place and as the highest finishing player in the top 5 not already exempt, he played his way in at Hanbury Manor and will be looking to take full advantage of the opportunity.
Not only did the Archerfield finish propel Gary into this week’s event but it also moved him to now 10th on the European Senior Tour Order Of Merit and with only a handful of tournament to go including the Paris Legends Championship and MCB Tour Championships, both of which Gary will be attending, it is looking very favourable for Gary to keep his full playing privileges for 2017 on the European Senior Tour.
This is the inaugural Willow Senior Golf Classic but not the first time Hanbury Manor has held European Tour events and Marriott are delighted to welcome the European Tour back again this year, which they hope will be an annual occurrence. Whilst Gary didn’t play in the pre event Pro-Am, he has been practicing hard on the course which has seen unseasonable weather making it play extremely fast and firm, perfect for Gary with accuracy into the green and a sharp putting stroke essential, both possessed by Gary.
Live scoring is available through the European Senior Tour website at www.europeantour.com/seniortour. Good luck to Gary for this week at Hanbury.
