The European Senior Tour this week heads to 'sunny' Wales for the Speedy Services Wales Senior Open.

After a spectacular week at Mottram Hall for the ISPS Handa Senior PGA Championship, the players could have been forgiven for thinking summer had officially hit the British Isles however to those competing in the Speedy Services Pro-Am at the majestic Royal Porthcawl Golf Course on Thursday morning they couldnt have been further from the truth.

There is only one word for what awaited the players teeing off at 1pm, brutal! The course was wet and getting wetter due to the heavy and persistent rain as well as playing long in the gusting winds, very difficult conditions.

Despite this Angel Franco guided his team to victory in the Pro-Am, congratulations to them for their success!

Friday's weather looks more hopeful as the players will be aiming to set their totals before the howling gales and torrential rain once again hits on Sunday. One thing is for sure the champion collecting the Speedy Sevices Wales Senior Open 2013 title will have definitely earnt it and a long rest afterwards!
