Wolstenholme Fires Course Record to Tie Third

European Senior Tour star Gary hit a spectacular round of 46, equaling the course record and surging up the leaderboard after the conclusion of his second round at the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championships held at Nailcote Hall.

The two-time Amateur Champion finished on -1 after carding two polar opposite rounds, day one eight over par and day two seven under, to put himself in a good position. With tough conditions at Nailcote Hall in the afternoon, overnight leader and fellow European Senior Tour player, former Ryder Cup player and European Tour winner Barry Lane would be in a final match shootout with 1999 Open Champion Paul Lawrie to take the spoils.

However a winner could come from anywhere over the testing Cromwell course where double bogeys are just as common among the professionals as birdies! As many of the afternoon starters fell away Gary’s position remained strong and he began to move up the leaderboard and with Barry and Paul completing the last holes, Gary was secured a T3 place finish and earn his automatic exemption for the 2016 event as well as his share of the £100,000 professional prize fund.

All of Gary’s sponsors including Galvin Green, Farmfoods, Champions of Golf, Carus Green, Titleist, Truvis, Tilley, Footjoy and Motocaddy wish Gary well for the rest of the European Senior Tour season including next week at the Prostate Cancer UK Scottish Senior Open.
