DP World Championships Closes the 2013 European Tour Season

The stunning Jumeirah Golf Estate was the host of the 2013 European Tour season ending Race to Dubai event, the DP World Championships, which saw the world’s best players, compete for one of the biggest prize funds in the sport.

Reserved for only the top 60 players in the European Tour order of Merit, what the event lacks in numbers of players definitely makes up for in quality boasting amongst others, major winner Justin Rose, Ryder Cup hero Ian Poulter and Fed Ex Cup champions Henrik Stenson.

Also included in the starting field were two Champions of Golf players, Scott Jamieson and Marc Warren, who headed into the week ranked 31st and 32nd respectively. Scott finished in a tie for 26th position after a long season where he played 31 events including lifting the inaugural Nelson Mandela Championship presented by ISPS Handa, Marc returned scores of 74, 73, 71 and a closing 74 to finish the week in a tie for 52nd position and finish the 2013 European Tour season in 33rd position.

Golf is a truly global sport and played every week of the year and the European Tour is no exception, only a few days after the close to the 2013 season the 2014 calendar is up and running with the South African Open being played at Glendower Golf Club.
