During Gary's illustrious career, he has been a record breaking amateur and has now moved into the professional ranks of the game; recording yet more success.
As an amateur Gary played in the Walker Cup 6 times consecutively from 1995 – 2005 and in doing so became the all time Walker Cup top points scorer for Great Britain and Ireland.
He has also represented England a record 218 times, making him the most capped Amateur golfer in the World, famously beating Tiger Woods when the pair met in the Walker Cup singles in 1995. He won the Amateur Championship twice, in 1991 and 2005.
In 2007 he was awarded an MBE by the Queen in the New Year's Honours List for Services to Sport.
Since turning professional in 2009, Gary has joined the European Senior Tour and won the Casa Serena Open title in only his second outing back in 2010. His first full season on the tour came in 2011 where Gary recorded nine top 10 finishes including 3rd places in Portugal, Czech Republic, Mauritius and Australia.
2011 also saw Gary win the ISPS Handa Australian Senior Open in Perth, as well as winning the European Senior Tour Rookie of the Year title after finishing 4th on the official Order of Merit which capped off a stellar season.
This fantastic form has carried over into 2012, with Gary winning two of the first three events on tour, the Mallorca Open Senior and the Benahavis Senior Masters, while also recording a further 3 top tens.
