Peter Baker On Course for Rookie Staysure Tour Season

After turning 50 in October of 2017, Peter Baker enjoyed his first tournament as a senior professional in the same month when he hosted the Farmfoods European Senior Masters. He registered a top 10 finish at the Forest of Arden Marriot Hotel and Country club and gained entry to the final event of the tour year in Mauritius for the MCB Tour Championship.

Named as one of the Staysure Tours “Five to Watch” to top the order of merit for the coming 2018 season, Baker will go into the year with a full calendar of tournaments for the first time. American, Clark Dennis topped the order of merit last year in his rookie year, a feat that Baker will be trying to emulate in his debut season.

With the newly named Staysure Tour going into its first year it’s also brought along with it a brand-new headline tournament to supplement the current senior majors. The Staysure PGA Championships will be staged at The London Golf Club in August before the Kitchen Aid Senior PGA Championship and The US Senior Open Championship both taking place in the States. Although it’s The Senior Open presented by Rolex that will have Baker and his fellow competiitors purring. Staged at St. Andrews – or otherwise known as the ‘home of golf’ hosts its first ever Senior Open in what promises to be a field peppered with Major winners and Ryder Cup players.

Peter like his fellow Staysure tour professionals heads out to Sharjah, UAE, for the first event of the year teeing off on the 8th March, and everyone from Champions of Golf wish him all the best in his debut season as a Staysure Tour professional.
